       I just realized that my #introduction was auto-deleted as part of my retention policy so here we go again.I adore tech and what it can do for people, but I hate to see what it's become, so I am a huge proponent of self-hosting solutions.I have huge problems with social skills, so if I am loud, awkward, unable to read the room, or otherwise annoying I'll apologize now. Just know that I'm not doing it on purpose, but I'll appreciate a kind correction.Old enough to remember Smurfs on TV.

       Okay, so this is just curiosity, but does anyone else out there have what I will call "Minecraft Syndrome"? That is to say, the problem of things being TOO open-ended? Like, you ask someone, "So what should I do?" And all they can say is, "Whatever you want to do!" as though it's a good thing, but then you just wind up doing nothing because you have the option of doing anything. Or is this just a "me" thing?#joinin

       @tlapka Ah, I feel that one. Sometimes you just shoot.I feel like I often fall into that second pattern. I either “know” the answer, or I can’t come up with anything. No in between for me. I’ve managed okay in life so far, mind you, but I hope to improve on this point… somehow. Maybe more notes and a more thoughtful approach to things… which sounds suspiciously like work.

       This could just be a me thing, but I feel like the Element Call documentation could emphasize a little more that the reverse proxy needs to strip the path from the requests for BOTH SFU and JWT.But at least now I think I have E2EE calling working on the Matrix server. This is a huge step forward since, now that I no longer have an iPhone my wife can't FaceTime me and Signal video calls have been iffy from time to time.

       Just confirmed a call with one of my users out in Texas - call looked pretty good with no jittering or anything. Super please about that. More than happy to share my configs (compose + Caddy + livekit) if anyone wants a leg up on getting them running.

       Question for the artists out there:What makes a good prompt for a request/commission? What counts as too much or not enough information?I want to do a commission, but I am scared of "doing it wrong" and offending the artist and winding up with a result that doesn't make anyone happy.EDIT: This really is just a preliminary question so that I could start shaping an idea.        For every adorable image I see depicting a tiny Furret, I would like to point out to people that it is officially 6' tall (long?). While still super-cute and cuddly in a body pillow kind of way, there is absolutely nothing pocket-sized about it.

       @tlapka SO true. Furret is the common offender, but so many of them are far bigger than people assume. Or smaller, I suppose, in the case of, say, Charizard (clocking in at, what, 4'-something, I think?).
