       @mwl  They're walling the garden. The wheels have been in motion for a long time (at least a couple of years). Are you sending to it from within Gmail or without?They have been making it harder and harder to send in from outside. The justification is to make email "more secure", but seen through the lens Google/Alphabet's previous shennanigans of trying to become the identity/knowledge core of the "free" Internet it is very obviously another attempt in that direction.

I wouldn't put it past them.Of course, the more charitable interpretation is that "somebody done fucked up the config".It just remains to be seen whether it is transient or not.

       @ZachWeinersmith  The problem is the publishing model, not the researchers or the research, per se.Too many grifters making a mint off knowledge they did not create (or even fund the creation of) as if modern publishing is an expensive affair. It is, but only because that's always been the framework.

       @eff By sharing across different networks, you are potentially inadvertently sharing material that other people chose to not have on those networks. Case in point. I don't have a Threads account because I don't want to interact with, or have my material in the clutches of, Meta but anyone else can choose to respond with a federated post that incorporates my material or links to it, thereby exposing me to Meta whether I consent or not.

       @fdroidorg Fair, I suppose, but since the call was put out here it's not unreasonable to also expect a direct answer to a direct question here. I was asking about the mechanism of testing rather than expecting to have to dig through lists and ask a second and maybe third time.

       @gargron Contemporary social media has been engineered to prey on addictive habits that younger generations have already been acclimatised to (which is not to say our generation cannot also fall victim).The simple truth is society should be regulating the producers and publishers, not the consumers. The answer is not banning children from online interaction (including through games), but unfortunately we have allowed the platforms to become too wealthy, powerful, and influential.

       @mntmn Dark Angel never got a proper run, Orphan Black was brilliant, bu Killjoys got kind of weird and lost its way at the end.The one I miss, which really should have been completed properly, but just ended on an open book was Dark Matter.
