       Android is the mobile operating system where stuff can be built. If Google doesn't like your app, fine, users can sideload. And no, that's not going away. You can make your own screen reader, accessibility services, and for AI, Android phones now have up to 24 GB of RAM. I definitely wouldn't be able to use an iPhone as my computer for a week.#android

       I promised some one I wouldn't hurt myself. That promise was put to the test today. We had teacher's appreciation day, Taco Tuesday knockoff in the room where we have presentations every month on a lot of nothing.I was working on setting up SearchNG, self hosted search engine. Coworkers were all about going to eat tacos. Tacos tacos tacos. I didn't feel hungry, I wanted to keep working. Be alone. No noise. But they insisted I go, so, remembering my promise, and knowing if I skip a meal that would be hurting myself, I went.I got there, and some one made a taco for me. A soft taco. Hamburger meat, rice, beans. That's all I wanted really. She closed it but didn't fold it.I sat down with my mostly prepared taco and think I almost had a panic attack for the first time in my life that I know. I tried to breathe deeply and all that. I could barely think through the oh my goodness what do I even do, filling my mind. I eventually folded one end so hopefully the inside wouldn't fall out, and ate it. I don't feel much better after a meal, but I wasn't on the edge so much that I couldn't remember to give a coworker the screw driver that came with the Monarch. Now I don't have anything I could usefully hurt myself with at home or work. I mean I guess I could cut myself on the sharp, 3D printed wire organizer thing on the desk, but if I commit suicide, I would want to be alone so that I cannot be saved.

       So, one thing I really don't like about MacBooks. So, imagine this. There is no Windows laptop with a number pad. None at all. Number pads are just gone. And there's also not much of a laptop layout for screen readers.Okay, so maybe I like the numpad commands a bit too much. I rely on them a ton with web navigation, and navigation in general with VoiceOver. But if you don't have an external keyboard, well you're back to using arrow key quick nav and trackpad if you can stand it when you barely touch it and VoiceOver stops talking cause you touched an empty area, or VO focus jumps around cause you forgot to turn trackpad commands off. Oh and try reading the audiogames forum with arrow key quick nav on. I don't know why, but for me, it acts like it's off sometimes, and ever since then I've been kinda hesitant to turn it on in case it does something weird again.I also know I should probably just get an external keyboard. But at the same time, I don't need an external keyboard when I'm using Windows. Why should I have to get one just for a Mac to feel comfortable?But also, I get it. Apple is inflexible, and blind people are very much obviously not their only customers. I get that and feel it every day from every single company out there.        Trying to clean out my timeline because I already hate myself more than anyone else ever could, I don't need to be told that since I use AI (pro AI, anti-slop, yes there's a difference), I'm a bad person.        Okay let's get something straight. I'm going to try to explain this as well as I can. I like iOS. I also like Android. I like iOS when I'm overwhelmed and need something to be as accessible as sighted people know how and can deal with not being able to actually tinker with things and make them better. I like Android when I have a spoon or two and can handle the disappointment of seemingly always needing to work around Google which is incapable of accessibility more than checking the box, but in exchange I can possibly work around it and make my own space.I literally paid for both these phones. My iPhone 16. My Galaxy S25 Plus. They're mine. I literally do not have to pick a side. I can flip flop all I fucking want. And if you don't like it, if you think you have to pick a side like either company gives a single shit about you, please unfollow me now, an turn off boosts of those who have the audacity to boost my shit.Jesus I can't believe I'm having to say this.
