       using "alternative" software which isn't as good as the corporate-funded kind (krita, mastodon, matrix) is a form of micro-rebellion. consciously giving up convenience for values is good and everyone should do it sometimes. but also: it's not fair to expect it from anyone all the time, because it's exhausting and people are trying to survive, which in many cases is a rebellion in its own right.

       if you have task paralysis then i highly recommend the book Getting Things Done (Second Edition) by David Allen, its an easy read and the advice is adhd friendly. he explains how to actually use the funny office supplies like "inbox tray" and "file cabinet" but he also honestly believes that you can manage anything with a pen, some plain white paper, and a wooden board laid across some bricks to make a desk.the key takeaways for me:1) be clear about what you're doing. maybe "take out trash" is too abstract for you. figure out the "real" first step and write it down, e.g. "walk to the kitchen and tie off the trash bag."2) be clear about what you're not doing. your brain will constantly worry about things its "supposed to do" and then forget them again. write it down! if you know what you're not doing, then your brain will stop feeling the need to remind you at random times. this really works!#audhd #neurospicy #gtd

I personally use ZNC as my IRC bouncer because I like being able to switch from one device to another without losing my place in the conversation. I think "the future of chat" should assume that everyone is doing that, and plan around it -- that's why I proposed the 14 day autokick, because I'm assuming that everyone is going to use a bouncer to stay logged in and I want to allow that for a reasonable amount of time.edit: to clarify, I want the "bouncer" functionality to be provided by default, users shouldn't be expected to set one up themselves. I want to distinguish between "client connects to server" and "user joins a room." logging starts when user joins a room, even if the user switches from one client to another.

       did you know- the nintendo switch 1 has an accessory called the "flip grip" that allows you to use it when rotated vertically- the nintendo switch 1 has an active modding community which has ported ubuntu and fedora to it- if your switch was made before 2019 it has a hardware vulnerability that makes it extremely easy to install these mods.- these mods only exist in memory and on the sd card, so at any point you can just reboot your switch and it will go back to its unmodded state.- MelonDS is cool :)#videogames #emulation #modding
