       The next person that rants about good old “shot in camera, no CGI, practical sets and effects” gets pushed into the pigs mud.Who gives a shit. Did it make you feel something? Did you have empathy with the characters? Is the story engaging? No amount of retro film stock grain is going to do that for you. Use what works.(ex film lecturer here: by graduation I hoped to have them put down the camera and write/draw a decent story).#movies

       @MaxCorp I sometimes think that it’s a conversion of “I’m getting old” to “everything is getting bad”. Because life was more fun when they were small and no obligations, health not a problem etc. Life is now ‘ruined by socialism’ and ‘woke’.

       The MAME Project has spilled out of retro arcade machines and now includes deceased music equipment – synthesisers, samplers and such. The online press are going bananas about free retro emulation – but the reality is far from ready – it’s more MESS than MAME.        I remember a time when Surry Hills was a place for shitty shared houses full of musicians and dodgy clothing sweat shops. Now it’s Canva Campus. Sitting in a coffee shop / Canva employee meeting spot in a circle of branded buildings I can catch a small glimpse of how it felt in San Francisco when Dot Comm came to town.
