It really bugs me in these natural disaster or zombie/alien movies when no one has a decent backpack. Everyone’s running around with these useless purses or crappy little rucksacks that will give you blisters the second you load it up. Come on, people! If you can loot a grocery store you can loot an REI. The concept is the same. Get a freaking compass while you’re at it. Maybe a bike. You can outrun a lot of zombies on a bike. I assume. Grab a hat, too. The last thing you need now is a sunburn.

I was at the doc’s office today and while in the waiting room, a guy came in helping an older man in a wheelchair. The younger guy was in his thirties, with wire-rimmed glasses and a bushy blond beard. The older gent was very thin, possibly not doing super well, grey-haired, and very still and quiet. Younger guy was talking to the receptionist kinda loudly, and said that older gent was not able to speak well, and that this was their first day working together as caretaker and caretakee.They sit down across from me. Young guy: Alright, here we go. Knock knock. Gent: <barely moving, mumbling very low and almost inaudibly> Who’s thereYG: Interrupting cowGent: <slowly turns to stare at him>YG: See, you were supposed to say, “Interrupting cow who,” but then I would have interrupted you and gone, “MOOOOooOOOo”The old guy slowly starts to shake, and we realize he’s laughing. And then I’m laughing. We all sit there and shake for a minute, trying not laugh too loudly.

My good friend sent me a liberal Substack post from someone they’re friends with. I wrote back: “I mean I like her writing, it’s a great sentiment, but Substack makes tons of money off of Nazis and transphobes and this has been in the media for years. Still in a big chronic illness downturn. Not sure what’s happened, just coping with it. It helps the system a lot to just hermit away, so I’m doing that a great deal. Still working on things to get better. Will report if anything jumps out as super effective. Fist bump to everyone! With each bump there will be some transfer of paint or ink from my fist to yours. CPAP fact: You can have need of a CPAP without snoring! I had a good doc who was trying to diagnose my then-mysterious fatigue. When the usual tests showed nothing, they wanted me to do a sleep test. I protested. I didn't perceive myself to have a sleep problem, and my husband never heard me snore. Finally I gave in and went, and sure enough I had sleep apnea. It was just quiet.This wasn't the whole answer to my fatigue but it helped a great deal, and had that doc not pushed, I don't think I'd ever know this. Sleep tests are very easy now! No more nights at labs, covered in wires. You can take one at home with light monitoring. If you even suspect you could benefit, try it. Sewing friends, Costco is selling the Singer Heavy Duty machine for $179.99, which is a great price. This is a really nice general purpose machine for starting your sewing hobby! It'll make crafts, clothes, bags, quilts, it's a good little tank.- It can easily handle things like denim or canvas, two fabrics a lot of beginning sewists using for things like bags and totes- It has a strong motor and with regular maintenance will last a long time (I wish I'd kept mine!)- Specialty presser feet can be a hidden expense with sewing, sometimes they're hard to find in different brands (my Bernina's feet are hard to locate). But Singer's feet are generic and you can get variety packs for $20, very nice!#sewing #costco #crafting

I can't prove this or anything but it really seems like there's one crow whose job it is to stand on the lamp post and yell, get me to come out, and then keep yelling about how the peanut lady has appeared. Two different crows came to get nuts, and the lamp post yeller didn't ever come down to get one. Also, I now have two blue jays who recognize my crow whistle. #crows #birds #birbs

@MsHearthWitch Yes, there is very much an "ahem!" caw! It's so funny! They're training me well. That's so sweet you've seen babies! I don't think we have any yet? There was a somewhat smaller crow this morning, but it was doing the hollering so I THINK it's probably just a smaller adult? It it's a bebe, it's VERY precocious.
