I think that is because they’re all attached to really hype, addictive, subversive things, and We Computer People think we’re immune to that. To the point of getting aggressive when someone says they’re bad.

I just learned a new nightmare that will also prevent me ever moving back to America.In Victoria, a used mattress has to be clearly labeled as such by law at sale.In many American states, mattress stores can simply reupholster a used mattress and sell it as brand new.I may never sleep again.

My advice - not either of my employers’ advice - to ANZ orgs regarding to US/Israel/Iran war cyber attacks: seeing a ton of activity. Some targeted, lots opportunistic. If you’re not a geopolitical target, increase threat posture. It’s too chaotic to fully predict and models can change at any time.

There is only a certain level of chaos and opportunistic disorder that even very good intelligence analysts can predict right now. Anyone could be hit by an attack of opportunity, a mistake, or be a supply vector. Australia’s geopolitical involvement could rapidly change. Raise your defences.

I'm not salty or anything, and I don't live in America anymore - but I absolutely checked a couple major cybersecurity events with rotating venues because surely by now in 2026, they must have moved to places safe for women and trans attendees, surely, surely, surely,nah of course not

I fully realise Singapore legalised being gay only three years ago, and I still feel safer here every time I visit than large swathes of America. My trans friend hasn’t been harassed, once. We spent the evening lesbian bar hopping. Americans get lied to, so dismally.

Hooboy. I won a R36S at a hacker conference a few days ago. I love classic games and was eyeing it for a while, but hadn't invested in one because I have emulators all over. In the intervening week, obviously I've bought a case, a wifi dongle for it, the adapter for the wifi dongle, a SD card, a couple shareware utilities to configure it and troubleshoot it, and spent about 8 hours fighting with identifying the screen to install dArkOS and get the wifi dongle working, reconfiguring fstab to get it to see my second micro SD properly, and reloading games.Well, I now have it working, minus sound (I think that I have a newer and yet unsupported model). But who needs sound when you have Contra? I actually haven't really played any games. I just keep adding stuff to it.This little guy is going to be a lot of fun, but I think more of a fun hacking and troubleshooting it perhaps, than actually playing the games.And I've definitely spent more than it cost the prize-givers. XDWould recommend to train any young gamer-prospective hackers to use linux and fight with hardware! A+++++
