I feel I've been doing an awful lot of boosting recently - there's just so many interesting posts.If that gets on your nerves, it's easy to hide boosts from a particular account on Mastodon: Open their profile (for example by clicking on the avatar), select the ⋮ context menu, and click "Hide boosts from @account" (the option is only available for accounts you're actually following).

I'm currently having a hard time using two accounts for different languages, so I'll probably go back to writing more German language posts on this one...When you're on a recent Mastodon version, there's an option in the web interface to individually select the languages you want to see from each account you're following - just pull up their profile and select "Change subscribed languages" from the three-dots context menu. This opens a new dialog where you can select languages you want to see from that account.This depends on the sender selecting the correct language for each post - I'll try to keep the error rate low.

@Gargron Machine translated UIs are even worse a crime. LLMs don't have the slightest idea of the context of some random button, and (looking at Microsoft's German UI translations recently) seem to choose the worst possible word to drop into that.

Meine Krankenkasse wollte ein Re-Enrollment in ihre Onlineservices (neue App, neuer Dienstleister?), und hey, ich bin nur zweimal in Timeouts gelaufen, in einen wilden Backend-Fehler, und der Registrierungsworkflow wurde nach Detailansicht der Nutzungsbedingungen abgebrochen... Immerhin konnte ich mehrmals von vorne anfangen, ohne dass alles ungültig geworden ist.Der Freischaltcode war abwechselnd Buchstaben und Ziffern, super für die meisten Bildschirmtastaturen.Weiss ja nicht, wie der Rest der Welt mit so Kram zurechtkommt.

I don't have space for a whiteboard, so I thought I'd get some (removable) blackboard film to see if I can stand having black on the door into the computer room - which is usually open, so the foil is on the outside towards the other room.Didn't count in how much work it would be to apply that stuff in a halfway acceptable form, without anyone helping. I think I could live with that black rectangle on the door - maybe I would even make it all black down to the floor with blackboard paint. Well, after I find out if it gets any use, because when it doesn't, why bother at all 🤷♂️
