The selection of #Linux books available at the #CLT2026 was a bit lacking, so I finally decided two pick up two books in physical form, whose (legally aquired) digital copies helped me a lot on my Linux journey. :tux:And special shoutout to @william_shotts for offering The Linux Command Line for free as the long running and updated internet edition. Just muted the #GrapheneOS account, because I keep getting more posts about constant badgering against other #FOSS projects than information about GrapheneOS itself. At some point I lost track which larger #FreeSoftware project based around #Android and #AOSP hasn't clashed with the "I backed down from my position but oviously didn't" GOS leadership yet. While often making valid points pretty much anyone disagreeing with their posts or not "doing it the GrapheneOS way" is considered an enemy.Wouldn't be surprised if #Motorola will drop their hardware plans with GOS at some point down the road if the worst PR managing I have ever seen keeps going on.🤦♂️ It's just blowing my mind how terrible the social media presence is being handled.In guess the #RSS feed for software releases for releases will do just fine. Just to tired of this shit. I will keep using the system (for now) but I certainly don't enjoy promoting it.#CustomROMs

@kuketzblog #Passkeys sind in ihrer Umsetzung weiterhin leider ein einziger Clusterfuck. Vom Prinzip eher super., aber da alle es willkürlich umsetzen, ich die Benutzbarkeit insbesondere für Menschen in reinen FOSS- und Selfhosting-Umgebungen eine Zumutung: Nintendo: Oh schade, dein Browser wird nicht unterstützt. PayPal: Oh blöd, das geht leider nur mit Chrome auf Mobilgeräten. Und so weiter. Laien können teilweise 3 Optionen wählen, wo der Passkey gespeichert werden. Wer soll da ohne Kenntnisse durchblicken? Ach, und dann ist super oft unterschiedlich, ob man den Passkey als vollständigen Ersatz, als Alternative oder nur als zweiten Faktor einsetzen kann. Immer ist es anders. Es ist zum Heulen.Noch ein Problem: Passkeys sind mit ihrem asymmetrischen Verfahren und relativ komplexen Technik im Hintergrund furchtbar abstrakt. Wie Passwörter funktionieren – ein gemeinsames Geheimnis – verstehen Menschen viel leichter. Hängen bleibt oft: Es ist kompliziert. Einen sicheren Export der Passkeys aus den großen Hersteller-Konten gibt es auch nicht universell. Fas hat die FIDO-Allianz auch erst viel zu spät bedacht und umgesetzt.Immerhin: Wenn sie gescheit unterstützt werden, läuft es super, egal ob mit KeepassXC/DX, Bitwarden oder Security-Token (Yubi- oder Nitrokey).

@fdroidorg I know that's hard to define and I don't mind apps being abandoned at some point, that's how life goes when you make software. There have been tons of these even without AI slop around.What I would like to see is some official statement on #AI / LLM driven apps in #FDroid by the F-Droid council. We have had a ton of anti-ferature flags for tracking, non-libre services, ads, NSFW stuff. While big FOSS and software platforms take a stance (such as @flathub and @Codeberg) I find it a bit disappointing that there is nothing like this for F-Droid. I am not saying F-Droid should ban all AI/LLM supported apps but I would appreciate if you make clear where F-Droid is at because your stance on other issues has been rather clear in the past. When it comes to AI it seems more like: We don't give a shit, hell is coming for us all anyway. ¯_(ツ)_/¯Or maybe I have missed some statement on this? 👀

@fdroidorg Pretty much confirms what you could tell already by looking at many recent new apps. Checked many of my apps I have been using for years now and the results certainly raise an eyebrow. #FDroid is all about #FreeSoftware and transparency, yet it is hard or or impossible for non-techies to check if they download an #AIslop app from #FDroid or something entirely human made. I'd still like to see some kind of #AI / #LLM disclosure for apps being submitted to the F-Droid repo but it's hard to find a good approach.Main problem is that many people just lie about their AI usage or change their approach after a successful submission. Happens all the the time on the /selfhosted subreddit. Btu I see this is already being discussed: https://gitlab.com/fdroid/admin/-/work_items/641Edit: Added correct issue.
