       I remember the days when a dumb terminal needed to connect to the network to function, whilst a smart computer could do everything locally. Nowadays a smart fridge needs an internet connection and a dumb fridge can do everything locally.

       @art wouldn't be the first time "software is free speech" has been invoked.Not sure the 1st amendment offers much protection against anything under the current SCOTUS though

       @EUCommission will LGBTQ+ kids have to prove their age to read about who they are? Will everyone have to prove their age to read the news as there may be disturbing images? Will the legislative processes be age gated when discussing laws on sexual abuse, including abuse of children? Will refuge centres have contact details hidden because of the trauma they discuss? Will we need to identify ourselves to look at Michelangelo's David? Or to learn about Auschwitz?

       @cwebber given how much the backers talk about wanting moats, I wonder if we'll see some "licencing" agreement similar to the RIAA or MPAA where anyone rich enough to join the club gets unrestricted use, and everyone outside the club gets sued if they make the club members uncomfortable 😨

       @cwebber which is of course the worse outcome for open source. Used as inputs for the machine, but need to stay clear of outputs lest it's tainted. But also at risk of being cloned and sued anyway like that singer-songwriter who lost the copyright on her own music.

       @cwebber @cwebber feels very much like the cities who didn't embrace cars who were going to be left behind, only to find that now those cities are so reliant on cars (and the price of oil) that they're fragile and unmaintainable.
