       WOW.  Just a huge shout out to A+ Computers Olympia who donated a MASSIVE amount of "older" Chromebooks to the Computer Upcycle Project.I'll be going through these, cleaning and upgrading what can be done and then working on getting them into the hands of people who need them.This might look like a crazy amount of laptops, but honestly, its the tip of the iceburg of machines that get thrown away... ever... single... day...

       For many people, the #Linux vs #Windows vs #Mac debate is a privilege — it assumes you can choose. But working with the Computer Upcycle Project, I've seen the real choice is often Linux vs no computer at all.~95% of donated computers are "too old" for Windows 11 or macOS. Linux installs on them anyway, adding 10+ years of life to machines #Microsoft and #Apple  called trash.This isn't Linux vs Windows. It's Linux vs e-waste.

       Another reason to hate #Apple  We're seeing more 2018+ MacBook Pro/Air donations — but Apple's T2 chip means even after iCloud sign-out and reset, the firmware stays locked to the original account.Without donor contact, these machines are useless.  :(I've upcycled ~1,000 older Macs, but T2 era machines will end that. It's controlling, creates e-waste, and will only get worse. #righttorepair matters — Apple couldn't care less.

       @aglimme @Gargron do you even know how big of an issue stolen macs are?  I bet you don't!Also, i'm not saying lets just unlock them all.  But it should be EASIER for the legit user to release it.. remotely from their icloud account.You can have both security and reusability

       @Epic_Null @Gargron @aglimme exactly.  Like how hard would it be to, at that screen, have a button that says "contact user" or "request to unlock"And then the user gets a secure message asking them if they lost this mac or if they want to unlock it for the new owner?Seems doable!

       Omg... got to actually TOUCH the new @frameworkcomputer 13 pro.. and y'all.. they NAILED THIS!I quit #apple back in 2020 and don't miss it ONE bit..... except the trackpad.        Hey #lenovo , can you stop this crap?I have a #thinkpad x13s that apparently needs a SPECIAL version of #windows11 that only YOU have.And when I go to get it, not only do i have to register, provide a serial number and deal with captca.. but then you give me an EXE to create the media??!?!I have a machine that can't boot windows so you give me a windows executable?Why not just a damn ISO?  I wish #linux would boot on this thing

       Okay.. this is what I got so for on the #linux to #bsd challenge..GhostBSD with #xfce on and old #thinkpad  E540Def some oddities, but overall, working pretty well.  I have #git #telegram #firefox and #helixEditor installed.And Arc-dark theme

       Okay. I realized if I'm going to do the #bsd challenge, do it properly. Not with ghostbsd but with #freebsd directly.  I downloaded the handbook on my #kobo and going to build my system brick by brick. Just like when I installed #arch #linux Let's goooo
