@jonlord I lived in LA in 1977-79... but never went up to Griffith Park. This was my first time.Lots of reasons why I didn't explore more of the city beyond Santa Monica, Westwood, and West Hollywood back then: heavy college load, the gays needed my attention, and you needed a huge paper map to navigate around while you were driving.

@midendian Yeah. Even without the amusing camera tilt, Ripley Street falls into the "believe it or not" category. It's like someone said "Oh let's put some housing up here so when people park their cars out front they can open up the door and tumble down the road at high velocity."

Heron's Head Park, yesterday, 3:41 p.m.So here's a new twist on a bridge I've photographed many times before. This time out, I used a tripod and a variable 10-stop ND filter mounted to a sharp, smooth turning 24-105mm lens. With the ND filter set to maximum darkness and the camera at ISO 100 and f/22, I was able to take a long, 10-second exposure in bright daylight.For the first 5 seconds of the exposure, the lens remained at 24mm to establish a solid image of the bridge. During the last 5 seconds of the exposure, I zoomed the lens out to the max to create the light streaks. Et voilà . That's French for oh cool.#photography #LongExposure

For #ThrowbackThursday...Yesterday's picture of a container ship sailing through the Golden Gate channel reminded me of a picture I took way back in 2007. I had just gotten my first DSLR, the Pentax K10D... and for a few months I started rushing around town like Jimmy Olsen, photographing every event, apartment fire, marathon, gay bar opening, and person dressed like a superhero at the Bay to Breakers race.
