       AI doomsday cultists are so fucking funny. Even if you ignore all of the technical problems associated with actually creating "superintelligent AI" that could threaten humanity. Even if we assume some extremely intelligent computer program was created and then decided to become malevolent and escape, that doesn't change the fact infrastructure is still physical. You can just disconnect the power. You can sever fiber optic links. Hell, you can even blow it up if nothing else works. It would have to run on something and there would only be so many places capable of hosting it, only so many places it could go. Just turn them all off and wipe them. Sure it could cause a lot of chaos and losses, but it would be far from the end of the world.They're all acting as if such a program would suddenly transcend physical existence and become some kind of ghost. I don't think they know how literally anything in the world actually works.
