@beardalaxy I've done this for my work too obviously you want to a human to cure rate stuff but if you're an expert or trained in your field using AI just cuts down time and makes it way more efficient and occasionally every now and then you have to stop it from destroying something or there's bad taste and you need to curate it.

@geistigbehindert @Azur_Fenix nintendo's lawfare is just weird in general man. the palworld lawsuit is definitely the most cut and dry egregious one, but outside of that it starts getting so wacky. a lot of what they do actually has legal basis whatsoever but it usually comes down to either A) people being scared of a lawsuit or B) companies wanting to maintain a good relationship with nintendo. so they'll make all these deals behind the scenes and stuff.then on top of that you have a lot of copyright trolls that just flat out aren't real, pretending to be nintendo. that's how a lot of youtube videos of mods get axed, but then you look at where the mods are being hosted and they have no issues because youtube's copyright system is extremely anti-user and pro-corporation to the point of it being broken. i'm almost certain that a lot of projects that have been shut down over the years weren't actually shut down by nintendo themselves. but they don't really care because they don't really have to care.as far as emulators go, it's really dicey. some emulators have been axed because they used parts of proprietary nintendo decryption keys and shit. some have been axed because the devs were talking about running pirated games on them. there was one that got shut down more or less because, even though nintendo couldn't do anything to the developer, they made some sort of deal with him (allegedly). but then of course all of those emulators are open source and you have tons of forks pop up and even the most popular replacements get to live on for years and years after that before anything happens to them again.who knows man, nintendo is fucking strange when it comes to that. decomps though are more or less established to be completely legal as far as i know because they are running on completely custom code and they just take the assets from the original ROM file which you can also acquire legally. nintendo can do shit like, for instance, not allow people to do streams of the melee pc port for tournaments, like they have done with project M and slippi in the past, but even that is super all over the place with whether they are feeling particularly evil or not that day.

@beardalaxy@gameliberty.club i have an AI policy for my projects, if the percentage of the commit that was contributed by AI is 23% or less there is not even enough reason to disclose that AI was used, any more than that and the specific AI model has to be a co-author at the very least

@beardalaxy The thing about so much of decomping and certain forms of emulation that aren't like... chip-level, is that a ton of it isn't necessarily tricky or confusing, it's just a ton of pretty simple stuff that you need to do meticulously over and over and over for each function surface. We literally created a mechanical brain that can do that correctly 90% of the time without help or second tries, why would anyone throw it out? And these days, it's all just anti-AI but like... a lot of tasks, reasonably difficult ones, can be done on a beefy home system with Qwen 3.8 27B or similar open, local models. So you can't even really use the datacenter complaint.
