       Not that long ago many of our portable (game) devices had batteries that could be swept out so you could bring extra sparesNow we gotta recharge or replace the whole device since they thought it would be a smart idea to make getting to the battery inaccessible

       @stux If the device is disposable, then you can sell more! Embedded batteries have saved the industry! Pay no attention to the pile of e-waste or the flaming garbage truck. That's just the cost of doing business now \o/

       @stux Try using a game gear that took 8 double batteries and lasted 3 hours. It got expensive. Today’s “handhelds” last 2-3 hours, imagine how many batteries it would take ?Interchangeable chargeable batteries ? That I can get behind. And the EU is enforcing that on the Switch 2 at least ..

       @stux They love this because when the batteries start getting worn out people tend to buy a new device instead of a new battery.  They get like $0.05 in net profit when you buy a new battery and $500 when you buy a new device.Even something like the Switch where at least you don't need a heat gun to get to the battery, still tapes it in so hard you have to be super careful not to make the battery pack short out or something while you're trying to remove it.  (Why the F do they use so much of that ultra-powered double-sided tape?  Just a tiny bit would hold the battery, especially with the shield screwed down over it.  And they use a tiny connector rather than standard pins so it's hard to get the connector out and the new one in.  Nothing in its design necessitates this.
