       "The original set of affirmative actions – the New Economic Policy – were actually meant to expire in 1990. That it did not wasn’t a big surprise. In 1990 many Malays were still living in remote villages far away from electricity, schools or hospitals. The aim of changing centuries of neglect within just a generation was too optimistic.You can easily send young Malays for university education, but success in today’s capitalistic world requires a total mindset change.
