       We couldn't hear shit in church today and I'm angry and increasingly convinced that children who can't behave in the slightest don't belong in the church. Either discipline them, get them into a secluded area that blocks the sound (e.g. outside), or leave them at home or with parents. They can't even get anything out of the Mass yet, and they end up ruining it for everyone else.Special mention goes to the kid that decided to start SLAMMING his truck against the floor and then revving up its friction motor as loud as possible at the most important point of the sermon.

       @grips my first question is why would the kid have a truck at mass?? like sort of defeats the purpose of bringing the little monsters to church if they're just going to have toys to occupy their attention.

       @Cheshire_Ocelot @Bungler As far as I know, there's a room like that in the back (I never looked closely at it but it sounds like what you're describing). There's also a separate cathechesis for kids taking place in the backrooms, but not all kids got sent there - maybe they were considered too young for even that, I don't know - and the noise didn't entirely die down.Whichever way I look at it, this seems like a mass parenting failure and it would need to be adressed at a parish level at least, because these kinds of behaviours can be infectious and I imagine it's way harder to make your child stay more or less still when there's loads of similar kids running around and making a humbug. Perhaps if you sit them down in the middle of a pew, where they can't run from that easily? It's possible there's just not enough seating, and many (including us) would prefer to stay standing rather than make the already seated people pack more closely... this, of course, isn't an excuse.To be clear, I don't mind fidgeting or a low level of noise - I fidget all the time - but there's a threshold and not being able to hear entire sentences of a sermon is clearly too far.

       @latein @grips so this is why i never remember going to the sermon, i thought we were mixed and not pure baptist though
