I don't want a foldable phone, I want the phone I bought in 2020 that worked flawlessly to not lag because somebody forced Liquid Glass on it.

With features like Live Rewind and Reference image and more client side scanning happening...when my devices die I'm gonna move to linux and alternatives for sure.Maybe its time to move to a flip phone and tiny tablet combo.

@Gargron I look back at my old Instagram photos that I downloaded (before I kicked that app to the curb) and I can clearly see the best photos were from my Samsung Note 3. It was also a very good phone.

@Gargron I would personally take the iPhone 5 or even the original iPhone. You know answer the phone provide a contact list maybe be able to read email. That’s it that’s all I want a phone for and realistically I don’t even need the email.

@Gargron They really need to pick a lane: artificial obsolescence OR hyper-inflated hardware due to scarcity.We really can't take being told to buy a new phone every year when phones are starting to cost as much as used cars.

@Gargron Did you try the ios 27 beta at all? It runs smoother (or at least more consistently) on my old iPhone 11 Pro that I’ve been using for testing than iOS 26 did on an iPhone 17, to the point where I was seriously considering going back to the older phone.Feels like Apple assigned someone to work on optimization for the first time in years.

@Gargron Good thing is, that iOS 27 fixes most of it. Have a 2020 SE, that was unusable with 26. Installed the first beta of 27 and it was much better. With the 27 RC it feels like 18.

@Gargron I’m really wishing this RAM shortage changes the mindset of developers. Because most devs I know, specially young ones, behave like RAM and processor power is unlimited. And the result is that apps and OSs are constantly requiring more and more resources. That’s the main reason I’ve been forced to change phones: not because it became obsolete, but because I was no longer able to upgrade the OS and apps. My current phone is 7 years old. I wish I could keep it longer.

@Gargron The only reason I slightly paid attention to this is that wider rather than higher might be of benefit. I'm always dropping my phone because it's top heavy the way I hold it and with case. BUT I had been planning to make it last until it died. I kept my former phone until the battery started to act up, my broker said it would no longer allow me to log in with my DATED phone, and I was a bit afraid it would set the house on fire it got so hot. :) My current phone is about 3 years old.

@GargronI want a phone that doesnt force me to wear off my USB port to use normal headphones.I havent used an sd card in ages, but just upgrading 1TB would be insane. I have never had a phone with decent storage.And it should be small and not made of Glass.Otherwise I like my Pixel 10, amazing camera. Open source drivers, device trees and a OEM that doesnt wanna drive Android to the ground would be nice perks too
