Does anyone have a high resolution copy of Shishkin’s Brook in a Forest (Stream by a Forest Slope)? Wikipedia has the highest resolution I can find, but not nearly high enough to print at a reasonable size. I’ve already looked through the top hits on Google and Yandex in both English and Russian. Is this just a dead end?

@Gargron you might ask for help at AfD headquarters - they have very good connections with Russia.

@dimpase What do I have to do with AfD? I'm not even in Germany anymore. The painting is in a museum in Kiev.

@dimpase Yes, I'm aware. What does that have to do with my thread?

@Gargron it should have been under a CV, that's all. Sorry for overreacting - since 2022 I spend a lot of energy, and money to support my relatives under Russian bombs in Ukraine.I don't want to hear anything about Russian art, or touch it, until the war is over, and every civilised person should not want this, either. I am sure I am not the only one.

RE: https://mastodon.social/@Gargron/107861884373220099@dimpase My position on this has been clear from the start. However, I think it's a nonsensical reaction to a painter that died in 1898. Russia has been the place of origin of many important pieces of art and literature, not always but often subversive of the government at the time.RT: https://mastodon.social/users/Gargron/statuses/107861884373220099

@Gargron so was Germany, too. Do you know, say, how popular German music, particularly Wagner, is in Israel? (well, not much, to say the least).

@dimpase It's mildly amusing that you're having this conversation with someone from a Jewish family, born in Russia, who spent most of his adulthood in Germany. Wagner himself was an antisemite, whether you engage or not with his work is more about him as a person and not Germany as a whole, but I'm also not a Zionist so couldn't care less what's popular in Israel right now.

@Gargron yes, it's mildly amusing that you triggered, with some Russian art, here someone born and grown up in Moscow in a Ukrainian-Jewish-Polish-Russian family. My sister with kids lives in Jerusalem, by the way.L'Shanah Tova if you celebrate...
