       It is kinda crazy to me that the #Flock cameras that we're protesting now are the exact future that I was reading about as a kid when my mom (perhaps naively considering her very conservative convictions) handed me @pluralistic's book #LittleBrother. Not similar, not analogous, the very same technology.They're literally adding gait recognition to the cameras, which will sound familiar to anyone else who's read that book.

       @realcaseyrollins I just finished that book after trying some of his short stories in "Radicalized".Cory Doctorow sure loves a good lecture.

       @tj I really don't know how other aspects of books in that series aged, but he absolutely nailed what the future of surveillance tech would look like.

       @realcaseyrollins My first reaction was that it was far-fetched.  Then I thought about the response to any major event and thought maybe he was being understated.One of the under-explored parts of surveillance that he mentions is the constant effort of the government to thwart the will of the people.  Ban facial recognition?  Fine, here's gait recognition.
