       leadership at the peak is basically where companies send critical executives who are fucking up bigtime, it involves a week-long set of intensive coaching sessions including a 360 review from all of your reports where you are not allowed to fire them for giving you honest feedback

       @ariadne boards can backstab, in fact may be forced to do so due to fiduciary responsibility when someone is acting as erratically as Mullenweg (see the OpenAI fiasco with Altman's firing). But they expose themselves to a proxy fight to be replaced and their time is limited. Unless they are planning on selling Automatic, but I don't see hoiw that can happen given his votes.

       @fazalmajid i suspect it is more complex than that.  i do not think he controls 84% of the voting power by proxy anymore.  he has probably scared too many shareholders.

       @ariadne you're probably right, but Automattic's "governance" is particularly opaque, even by Silicon Valley standards.Heather Burns had some really interesting beans to spill a couple of years ago.I'm so glad I switched from WP to Hugo almost a decade ago...
