       defederation happened because of the site policy, not because of any collective judgment of its users.  lots of instances are obviously evil and I just quietly instance-block them and move on, but I posted the announcement because I know there are a lot of good people who signed up there despite the shit-ass throne of privilege from which the instance policies are delivered
