       @Paradox my mom always told me that bad things outweigh good things by 7 to 1. Not sure if that exact ratio is correct, but I do try to give people some goodwill if they slip up

       Sometimes this happens because the naysayer in question has never heard of them before and that one data point is all they have.Other times... it's like people aren't allowed to make mistakes, or the wrong kind of mistake sets them off.

       @Paradox i think this tends to happen more, the more personal (relationship) distance there is. if its your mother, you already know who she is privately, but if its a stranger you tend to just think that their public face has slipped. the effect is just worsened in modern day with personal brand style social media accounts etc.

He might still, but I think he lost himself in his craft in a bad way. There's a difference between that and finding out someone never thought anyone was worth that.
