       my assumption is yes, but now I have some spicy questions for the next HOA meeting such as- how do we close any louvers so that fallout can't get in- do the building louvers fail closed if the fire panel fails?- please document the procedure for getting the building skeleton key so we can override any systems if needed

       @ariadneStrictly technically speaking the answer is very likely "no".While it _may_ be sufficiently deep underground it probably lacks sufficiently durable blast doors and, given the amount of open spaces necessary for a parking garage, a blast will very likely reach even the last corner in the deepest level, not to mention the effekt on the structural integrity of the building, which might make it a grave. If not on the blast itself than due to it collapsing afterwards…

       @ariadne I'm not sure that I _want_ to survive a nuclear exchange.  Being vaporized by the blast seems preferable to dying slowly from radiation sickness, or starvation during the nuclear winter to follow.Now I'm going to go find something else to think about...

       @sherbang I mean, what we know is that as long as you are careful, your odds of survival are good if you can get somewhere reasonably shielded and have about a week's worth of supplies.after 48 hours, most of the fallout has become sufficiently inert that you can generally evacuate

       @ariadne with the general populace lacking defensive driving skills / can barely handle emergency situations, a car just sounds like a liability. Hours in a traffic jam sounds like a death trap. If it’s an ICE-powered car I would suspect a lot of oil infrastructure also crumbling apart. Electric would be workable though. But honestly an ebike (and related) is gonna be hugely more useful. Fallout alone though is gonna be a problem. I don’t like any of these odds.
