Which is joyously queer!I think most of us are sophisticated enough to put fiction in historical context and appreciate what was trailblazing about at the time.Also, it's a deliberately subversive comedy horror, for crissakes, not social commentary - and all the queer characters in it are from another planet. 🙄

       @The_Whore_of_Blahbylon  I think the whole point of it is to be not just problematic but shocking and transgressive. And it still is... Just in a different way.It manages to violate rules of etiquette that hadn't even been invented yet when it was made, in trying to violate all the rules that had been invented. Quite an achievement.
