       When I was getting out of the bus, some dude asked my help carrying groceries bags since he had quite much but was aloneSo I jumped in and walked with him back, I think we’ve been talking for a good hour or two or so!A while ago he was released from prison and he just moved to a ‘social community ish’ home for homeless people since he had nothing left… (1/2)

       Turned out he was in jail because 3 guys broke into his house and he defended himself by attacking one of them, he had to go to prison and pay 16K to the guys breaking in. The judge told him he ‘had to call the cops’ -,-For Dutch standards this seems to make senseI would have done the same if not worse, I’m not gonna political debate people who are breaking into my house..        @stux Interesting discussion linked below. Sounds like in the Netherlands you are allowed to defend yourself or your property, but there are stringent proportionality requirements, and rigid rules against "taking the law into your own hands" (which may be the source of the judge's "should have called the police" comment).        @stux Sweet of you to help him with the groceries, but the story you should maybe take with a few grains of salt.
