@realcaseyrollins there's this weird old thing called a browser. It's how grandpa used to look out porn before apps. Apps are stupid and should have never been a thing. They just steal/gather information without the protections from that a browser with good extensions can provide.

I used #LineageOS for several months and LOVED it. However, #Google broke #RCS support on non #Android ROMs, so it messed up almost all of the group chats I was in. A phone is a communication device first and foremost, so that rends #LineageOS (and all other alternative ROMs) unacceptable to me, at least for smartphone use.I will continue to use #LineageOS on tablets though.

@sirjoho @Max_Imum @realcaseyrollins Yup. Browser is the way to go. The philosophy behind Vanadium browser (co-developed with GrapheneOS) is that you just have to manage security for one app, the browser, which is a lot more manageable. I've been on GrapheneOS for years and, with a few exceptions, I use Vanadium for everything.

@black6 @sirjoho @Max_Imum There is a longer story to it but I've actually been forced to use the browser instead of some of my apps. I'm glad so many apps have websites but I'm worried that eventually I'll run into one that doesn't have a website.#Android

@sirjoho @Max_Imum @realcaseyrollins @black6 Depends on the app. From what I understand, most "mobile apps" are just the site in a wrapper. It decreases complexity as you're not maintaining 3-4 distro for web access. Just one, where everything is less good, unoptimized, and resource hungry.
