       I think it is sad that many HEMA practitioners are so vehemently dismissive of the spiritually christian context behind the historical art. don’t get me wrong, I believe HEMA can be practiced by anyone, but you don’t see the same respect that would otherwise be given to japanese or chinese martial arts when eastern mysticism is brought up.

       @vitalis Thing vs Thing, JapanI'm sure it has something to do with how we perceive samurai vs knights.Chivalry is ingrained, sure, but not anything really religious unless we're talking about crusaders (which were knights, I believe, but we tend to not think of such warriors as being so close to the church).

       @vitalis Christians are pretty nice when it comes to disrepect of #God or #Christianity (except for those espousing #ChristianNationalism) so people really just get away with whatever.
