Like I need to contextualize Dolly Parton for some of y'all if you're not in the south or specifically queer in the south. This woman would have unironically been a billionaire forever ago but kept throwing money at problems she saw cropping up in the south. Schools underfunded and kids literacy going down? Buy them books.She unironically is responsible for one of the COVID vaccines. She's put I don't even know how many kids through school while constantly and aggressively espousing acceptance and love to queer and black folks in a region and time when she would've overtly benefitted from not. She's consistently been a voice of acceptance in a place where there just wasn't any.At every step of the way she's been on the right side of history, and while she was wealthy, it was literally only because she couldn't give her money away fast enough. I just I dunno, I loved her as a kid growing up and loved her even as an adult. This actually really fucking sucks.

@ripperdoll she literally got like ambush questions about the anti-trans bills in tennessee by retarded media outlets and handled them with a level of grace and compassion that most music artists big enough to open up a personal theme park would never have given.genuinely, she was an actual real one. she also came from an era of country music when it hadn't been completely corrupted into a propaganda arm of American conservatism yet. that era is really quickly dying off. it's a shame...

To add to this, this woman was so aggressively loved back that even if you were gonna be a racist homophobic dipshit in the south, Dolly was hands off. Search engines are shit today but it was like a common thing for conservatives to badmouth Dolly and then immediately lose relevance because of just how universally good this woman was. Conservatives grinding themselves into dust against a woman who was overtly antiracist, antihomophobia, who openly loved and celebrated sex workers. I cannot adequately explain just how insane it is that she was given the sway she was and just how untouchable she was *by being one of the realest bitches alive*.
