       @freya not entirely true.pkgconf 3.0 LTS branch retains autotools for the reason that a meson bootstrap path is still maturing.  we plan to continue support for this branch through at least 2029. pkgconf 3.1 uses a subset of the Meson language that is also implemented by Muon, a C reimplementation of Meson.there is also pkgconf-lite, but that is more comparable to u-config.
