       i think my brain is starting to become numb to foss doomerism now. i'll just continue to be grateful for the small wins and the people who still care, and shrug at the nonsense until it passes

       Yeah. My current approach is:* Set strict policy on projects where I have authority* Speak firmly and compassionately with those peers I hope can see reason* Occasionally slap down some AI booster in a public forum, for catharsis and spreading the message* Let the rest go, the whole mess is founded on heavily-subsidised proprietary LLMs and those will be utterly unaffordable when the money runs out and the debts come due.        @mntmn  Over the last few months I have come around on this and now believe a lot of the core parts of the FOSS  desktop ecosystem are actually replaceable after all.It'll take some time, but we can totally rebuild. This time it'll be openly political and hopefully not so linux-focused.In the grand scheme of things, this will be a minor set back.

       @mntmn same.  The headlines tell one story, but my community of people doing small important things with care tells a different story, and I prefer the second one.  Helps fill me with hope, resolve, curiosity, and delight, instead of powerlessness and despair.(You and your crew are in the second category, in case it wasn't entirely clear.  Thanks for that.)
