       The Fairphone 6+ looks like exactly what I want to buy for my next smartphone, except that I won't be able to use GrapheneOS on it. The combination of those two would be awesome, though it's not likely to happen, unfortunately.

       @dangillmor Although both projects are privacy-oriented and offer alternatives to Big Tech consortia, the first focuses on modularity and self-repairability, while the second seeks the highest level of hardware security available, such as the Titan M2 chip. Perhaps Motorola will have the necessary hardware requirements by 2027.

       @dangillmor my experience with Fairphone 4 has not been great. My device had a never quite acknowledged by Fairphone common problem, the battery was draining fast, a charge was never enough to last a day. It started after a firmware update, and went on for many months, until I gave up and bought another phone.And then a firmware update, more than a year after the problem started, has fixed it.But it was too late.

       @dangillmorWorse, at least at the FP5 level the software support was mediocre, if memory serves correctly, updates showing up only quarterly. That's why I've got a FP5 lying around unused on my desk and got myself a Pixel instead, sigh.

       @dangillmor Some positive news in that I saw Motorola will be releasing device built on GrapheneOS. They might not be the repairable wunderkind that the Fairphone is. But it is good to see first-party hardware with GrapheneOS installed by default.
