@ariadne @Mastodon I don't see the problem tbh, the triple list thing that only works on wide-screen desktops felt more clunky IMHO. but perhaps they can make it toggleable/dockable? make everyone happy?

I still remember the Mozilla Firefox vs. Debian Iceweasel case. 🙄 Anyway, this is the Fediverse, and ActivityPub is an open protocol with many different implementations apart from Mastodon. So, if Mastodon really goes down the drain (which I doubt), there are plenty of other choices.

@Gargron @Mastodon : thanks for your reply but I have already set to public by default as you can see, yet I still regularly get toots that are automatically set as quiet when I add a post to an existing thread. And when I type a hashtag, then do I get the warning about my toot being quiet, so I have to manually change it to public. The hassle hasn't disappeared.

@Gargron @Mastodon : I never set things to quiet voluntarily however. So if it's inherited, it's because Mastodon has chosen that for me. It's happened many, many times in long threads that I have the reset to public manually because "quiet" is forced.
