       The new Pokemon game is going to be north of 100$ and exclusive to the new console, they are shutting down bank so you can't play any old ones anymore, and the Pokemon TCG is scalped so bad right now people are putting GPS trackers on the supplers van so they can resell on ebayI think now is a great time to get into Palworld!!

       @ocean@raru.re I mean... you don't have to play the new games, you can enjoy the old ones, even if emulated. The Pokemon bank doesnt really matter anymore after the pokexit (it only matters if you have shinies or something in there) since you're not really going to use old mons anymore (you can get what you need from the modern games anyways), and you can always use PKHeX and make your own bank. As for scalping cards...  on one hand, Nintendo can also be blamed for it. But from what I see, its only really bad in the US, in Europe is bad but not that bad.I don't get the point in scalping Pokemon cards, honestly. Those cards dont cost what Nintendo asks for them. You have to waste a lot of money to get something really rare, and most often than not, these cards dont even reach a really high price ever. You're probably going to waste more money than you're going to get from them.Don't bother with modern Pokemon. Its not worth it.

       @enigmatico I hate that the Pokemon TCG has turned from a fun game you can play with your friends into some weird manchild's speculation market. The scalpers have driven prices up so much that playing the TCG is prohibilitivly expensive. It sucks. It was a fun game!

       @ocean@raru.re I remember when they released the Ascended Heroes set they released a Gardevoir/Lucario box with 10 packs, a promo card and a poster of the promo card. The box normally costs 70€, which already is a friggin' lot (whats inside shouldnt even cost half of that), but whatever.I went to a local store next to my house to ask for the price of one of the boxes, and the guy says "120€". Almost double the price. I just exit the store, not going there ever again. They had the boxes on display (that and the Mega Dragonite ETBs) for well over a month, nobody bought them. Gee, I wonder why...Then another store moved to another location and they got the same boxes. I asked the price, and this time I got one for 70€. Still overpriced but at least its market price. And now I got a shiny Mega Gardevoir promo card that goes with the Mega Gardevoir ETB that I literally had to "smuggle" earlier this year. It's easier to buy cards in Spain, there isn't that much scalping and interest, but its still hard and expensive.

       @enigmatico The thing is that I could excuse it if it was a couple sets that were underprinted, but Nintendo is absolutely printing far under demand to generate hype. It's so annoying! And you have situations like the one you are describing, wherein you're paying double MSRP at a real retail place because they've made the product so scarce. Palworld TCG launched recently, and I'd be absolutely amazing if they printed an abundance of the cards and it was an affordable TCG!!

       @ocean@raru.re Yeah, specially boosters. The boosters for Phantasmal Flames were 8€ each. You know why? Mega Charizard. If there is Charizard in it, the price skyrockets. Mega Evolution boosters were 6 each instead, and I liked that set much more than PFL. And the Japanese boosters have 5 cards but they costed 4 each, but you get a rare card guaranteed and no energy.
