       @coldkennels @ewen Yes, I'm a photographer, but most of the time I'm posting pictures from my phone, and if metadata was not stripped (such as due to a setting I disabled for my account, because I'm a photographer), then my location would be revealed to the whole web. Basically, image metadata is a huge footgun. It's useful for professional photos but not for the majority of photos being posted at any given moment.

       @Gargron @ewen is there any sort of nuance to the way it could be handled? For instance, I have some pre-written Terminal commands to strip off all exposure data from images using exiftool (so camera scanning doesn't result in the wrong exposure data being attached to the resulting JPG). Could something similar happen server-side to erase just the problematic fields while leaving copyright data intact?
