       My son keeps asking me questions about college.  Dude, I have no idea.  I did an online college when I was in my 30's.I think he's nervous.  It's a real university, and he's hoping to meet all the people he didn't meet during Covid.  And not too many trannies or fat chicks.

       @Smeetoo It's a completely different world than when I was a kid.  10 years ago, I think I still knew what was going on, but I'm fairly certain that now I have no idea.

       @Leyonhjelm @Smeetoo We're in Charlotte, a city so blue the Republicans don't bother with most elections.(It's not really, but Republicans are lazy.)But last year there was a Nerf gun club, so maybe not all is lost.

       @tj do him a favor and find somebody knowledgeable who can advise him. I was the first of my family to go to college and I certainly didn’t make the most out of itI mean, I got multiple technical degrees but I could’ve saved a lot of time had I done things differently

       @tj Freshmen year there are plenty of resources to lead/entertain.  They will keep you busy when not reviewing your notes from this or that lecture or reviewing lab notes.  Sometimes finding a quiet nook in the library is needed to dive in on deeper subjects.  Forming a small study group can help with mid-terms / finals.Homesickness is real, keep in touch.

       @scottdhansen We live five minutes from campus - he could ride a bike there if he had a bike.  He spent last year at community college, so he's back in the habit of homework and studying.The education part should be fine.  It's the social part that worries him.  Folks talk about life long connections made in college (including girls), and he's hoping that happens with him.

       @tj On the social side you just have to be available and the connections, perhaps relationships will happen.  Just remember everyone was that person at the table of strangers feeling awkward until one of you reached out to say hello.
