       @synte there is definitely craft in hiphop but indeed, there's also a lot of very defined "movesets", "tricks" and all that can be almost compared to sport: - did they do the dilla time?- did they add _that_ sample?- did they add a vinyl spin etcetcjudge raises their notes… 10 for Germany, 5 for France… you get it.If you get all ingredients sure, it's a banger but I'm in the camp of those wondering if you can call it yours. What I hope with these is that everyone bring a bit of something else and that push people to rethink the way they see their craft and improve their artistry. ps: we can say this of jungle, dnb, anything we used to call "generic" back in the 2000s (we being "me and my crew of idiot artists)
