Spinsters, please read. I’m increasingly worried about the errors we’ve been having. We’re running on software that’s not been maintained or patched in years, the owner and the maintainer of the site have moved on to other things, and eventually something is going to fall over. Although some of us (me included) have alts on other instances, a lot of us don’t. I’ll miss (some of ;) you tremendously if Spinster vanishes. As a very much just-in-case back up, I’m going to create a new instance, running on up-to-date software, and strongly encourage everyone to make an account on it. You don’t have to use the account, but it will be there for emergencies. You’ll be able to import your follows, so if the worst happens we’ll all be able to find each other. Before Feart asks, no: there will not be an old.version. It’s just not possible. But we can make it look less like a tampon packet. Thoughts/comments?Edit: spinster.club but it’ll be a day or so.

@EatKnitSleep2 @Flick Keeping an eye out. Be nice if we could avoid winding up on an auto-blocklist too. It’s depressing seeing Spinster amongst a whole list of far right and outright fascist sites on my hometown instance.

@EatKnitSleep2 @Flick ugh. change. we're 7 years tomorrow! I hope we can keep going. Has MK indicated if maintenance is just not to happen?My main issue with nu is not the colour scheme, it's the rounded corner separation between posts. It trips my eyes up and makes the page very hard to scroll through. But I don't suppose that's possible to change. The Notifications page doesn't hve the interruptions.Good of you to take this on Flick.

@Flick @Flick Well whoever is policing the instances... Unless when we end up on blocklists, it's per instance instead of higher-ups... I know we are totally persona non grata on Mastodon. I'd be surprised we could create an instance over there. Not that I'd want to either.

@KeepTakingTheSoma The software that Spinster runs on is getting old. Alex and MK have lost interest in it, so I’m worried that eventually it’s going to stop working one way or another. This will be a new site like Spinster, that works in just the same way but on software that’s up-to-date and maintained.
