@geerlingguy Their website says this laptop is $699 (or $599 for students). But once I accept the redirect to the Norwegian site it instead starts at 12 499kr (Approx $1300).For comparison the Macbook Neo which is $699 in the US costs 8999kr (~$950, which is still more than the expected MSRP + Norwegian tax).I don't know how it is in other countries, but at least here in Norway the new XPS 13 actually costs almost 40% more than the Macbook Neo. And it's not just my local tax being added ontop.Now this is obviously Dell's fault, but you are forwarned that every commenter not from the US might scream at your video that this laptop being priced anywhere near the Neo is a blatant lie.

@stefan Well yeah, that's why I said it's not the expected price PLUS Norwegian tax. The macbook neo is a little higher, but roughly lines up with $699 + 25% VAT. The Dell does not.Also the pricing is in the first screenshot, $699 is the regular price in the US, student pricing is $599.In Germany the Dell XPS 13's expected price should be ~600 EUR without VAT, or ~720 EUR including VAT.

@kura @stefan I would be curious if you looked it up. Dell have copied Macbook Neo pricing 1:1 in the US, both regular price and student price.So if you check what a Macbook Neo costs in your country, the New XPS 13 should cost basically the exact same.For example in Germany this laptop should have a regular non-stuent VAT-inclusive price of 799€ since that's what the Neo costs in Germany. But it costs 1049€ instead.

@stefan It genuinely wouldn't surprise me if it's a PR thing.Sell it at the same price as the Neo, so US reviewers who don't check international prices go "It's a Neo competitor". But in reality the laptop might as well be compared to the Macbook Air instead, it's priced right in-between the two.

@stefan I'm comparing the 256GB model though.Sure, the Dell has 512GB of storage, which is a plus.But my point is still that people are making this a "$699 laptop vs $699 laptop" comparison.That means $699 XPS 13 (i5, 512GB) vs $699 Neo (256GB)

@quad @stefan Unironically, I think here on Brazil it will be one of the few places that the XPS will be cheaper than the Neo but only because the base neo here is 1.6k USD but I agree that nowhere besides US or maybe Canada you will have the XPS for $699

@kumicota @stefan Just like Norway and Sweden. The border limits on stuff like Alcohol are per-person. So whenever Norwegians go shopping for alcohol in Sweden they find the biggest vehicle they can and fill it up with as many random friends and colleagues they can find, because the more people in the car, the more alcohol they can bring back.Someone I know bought an entire broken bus, got it barely held together and running, then filled it with 20 randos just so they could maximize alcohol yield from sweden
