       @ariadne an important example of this is the one that says, "if there were a corporation that genetically modified people a little bit and then re-branded them as 'not-people', way too many people would go along with it and there would be a new slave trade, so definitely avoid that."& then 99.x% of the audience (or at least the white audience members) ended up thinking that the genetically-modified humans are not only non-human, but also non-biological, thus proving the film's point too well.

       @ariadne I have completely lost faith in this hell-industry over the last 3 or so years. Sure, I’ll keep taking money from my employer to keep the lights on, but I’m desperately searching for a way out and for me that appears to be electronics and embedded systems.

History is an endless list of wars, conquests and atrocities.What you can do, however, is have faith in individuals. Good exists, but it is not to be found in the systems that shape the world. It is local, it is in small things, in small communities, and it is precious.

       @ariadne Recently someone thanked me for explaining SpamAssassin years ago on a mailing list. He was grateful because it got him interested in classification theory and that lead him to learning about LLMs. That became a fruitless discussion with my therapist. I’m still a bit disturbed. The whole industry is splitting between people who have surrendered their agency to software and those of us who feel profoundly morally injured.
