@ariadne @hotelzululima It was a very different time.That said, I have to admit that apart from basic programming courses for data structures and stuff, what I officially learned working for my degree was mostly useless. The really formative stuff was what I was doing with my peers in the computer rooms, learning the basics of Unix, system administration, etc. Those were the actual skills I later used to get a job.

@ariadne "more code is better" ... when you are selling services that charge per token ...I am always surprised by vibe coders that don't understand the simple math behind the service they consume.LLMs are built to produce and consume as many tokens as they can. That is their business model. The business model is not to produce the most efficient solution with the least amount of LLoC.

@ariadne I’ve recently seen a promptfondled codebase that with its big blobs (.git, .mp4, etc) stripped away is a tenth of the size of the linux kernel codebase (also with blob folders stripped)it’s 10 months old honestly not sure this sort of thing can even be saved without just scrapping it and reimplementing
