Shout out to my fellow DeArrow peers who replace clickbait thumbnails with literal scene grabs from the video itself, and for replacing clickbait titles with proper descriptions of the videos.

@vwestlife Imagine being a tech youtuber and being so lazy or non tech savvy you can't or won't spend 15 minutes using free, non AI tools to make an image with a title.The impulse to make everything look professional by using a tool used by people who are profoundly unprofessional is baffling to me. Most of the best tech youtubers are the ones who are still a bit rough but are trying, you get to see the improvement video after video, they're not the ones who come in and take shortcuts.

@gloriouscow That's actually part of my point: if you're making thumbnails by hand in the same style that AI is churning out as cookie-cutter slop, you better switch to a different style, or else your videos will look like AI slop as well.

Update: I asked Record-ology (image #1) if he's now using AI tools to generate his thumbnails and he wrote back "Yes and I am only partially happy with it…..if I prompt it to add text, brighten the colors etc it still mangles the words on product names etc."

I got a reply from AntennaMan (#4): "I always thought my thumbnails were too basic, so the last 2 or 3 videos I ran A/B tests with AI enhanced thumbnails that you likely saw on your feed. The tests showed that my basic thumbnails got more clicks than the AI ones, so I will be going back to the old way of things unless I really can't think of a thumbnail to make for a specific video, which happens occasionally."
