RE: https://fedifreu.de/@abulling/116976224197565150His take was worth grabbing a translation… “I’d like to weigh in on the topic of #AI as well. After all, we conduct research and teach in this field. There is one point that, in my view, receives far too little attention in media coverage and public discussion:A massive wave is heading our way. A wave of unprecedented scale, bringing devastating consequences for the economy and society: the wave of incompetence. …”RT: https://fedifreu.de/ap/users/115895439005760263/statuses/116976224197565150

@MountainJay there was a finance guy who did a takedown on Intel's slow burning crisis. it amounted to like.- hedge funds have been buying blue chip stocks as a low risk way to back retirement and other hedge funds where the number must always go up.- this reached saturation (the bank now basically owns major shares)- owning a shitload of shares gives voting rights- finance doesn't actually know how to run a tech firm, so they stuff the board full of professional board members from harvard- the board doesn't know how to run a tech business- as above, so belowthe harvard mba playbook has been an absolute goddamn disaster and the gpt putsch just made it faster. deming was saying this in the 80s (fucking with paper profits will result in a dead business) while harvard goes "we don't need to know stuff we just need credentials and to hire people" and then proceed to appoint cereal box retail people in industries that don't work like cereal box retail and are utterly baffled why the entire customer base is pissed.
