       linux “isn’t a social warrior project” and should only be evaluated on its technical merits? ok!it’s a mediocre unix-like and the only reason why I use it is because of binary compatibility and drivers, things that linus didn’t contribute to the kernel in any way that matters for modern programs or hardwareif not for compatibility and drivers, I’d be on a BSDsince it’s not a “social warrior project” and the use of LLMs is going to make its codebase fucking unsustainable, I now struggle to technically differentiate the Linux kernel from the windows kernel in any way that matters

       @mawhrin @ahills @zzt No, I have to disagree there. This is not my area, but the implementation of Snap is easy to understand compared to the baroque complexity of Flatpak. Upstart seemed smaller and cleaner than Systemd and gained adoption, even in RHEL. It's still in Chrome OS today. OStree is another Lovecraftian behemoth. Unity was a joy to use, while GNOME is computing in handcuffs. I could go on.
