       I started watching Young Ladies Don't Play Fighting Games and I'm curious what the yuri crowd thinks of it cuz I'm not particularly into yuri (as a main dish) but this is the most I've been interested in a yuri show*.*since Tenten Kakumei

       @Paradox Paging @jacky and @euphy?Breaking the window was punk af. Illicit gaming as a metaphor for (illicit?) girlkissing is fun, but it doesn't seem like pure comedy either? Haven't read the Manga, but it feels like it has something to say because some of the scenes get really intense and intimate so suddenly.Tonally, its a lot like WataOshi, IMO, even though no one is as openly gay as Rei "Are you what they call 'GAE?"'        @mechawatts @Paradox @jacky I think it's pretty nice, but I kind of percieve it as yet another "Rock wa Lady no Tashinamideshite" (ojyou-sama doing a geeky fobidden things) ! But finely crafter for sure ! (maybe a tad more)"Fun yuri" isn't my prefered kind, but I'm watching it whole I think ^^' (it's light & easy to get into !)

       @mechawatts @Paradox @euphy read the first 18 chapters of the manga 4-6 years ago. yuri wise, at that point it didn't go very far, from what i can remember. but it's officially marketed as yuri (i think), so idk where it's gonna go. overall, didn't like it that much. mainly because i don't care about fighting games and i'm not a huge fan of sports manga in general. having seen just the first episode, i think i'm gonna enjoy the anime more than the manga tho. simply having actual movement in fights is gonna make it more accessible i guess

       @euphy @jacky @mechawatts I think it adds a lot. Fighting games is what they bond over, the language they share, the secret they share. I've never played a fighting game myself, so anything I do understand comes from my knowledge of gaming in general.But listening to people ramble about things I don't understand all casual like they understand perfectly is one of my greatest pleasures.        @Paradox @jacky @mechawatts Ironically I get the references from having viewed a documentary on competitive fighting, so I get what kind of elitism they're trying to emulate -I guess the authors are either of this culture or watched the same couple hours than I did- (but I kinda hate the elitism in showing performance ; I love the passion talk tho, that I don't skip. To me the performance part is what I don't really get. I feel that's often missing the point of liking something without needing to excel at it. The anime would be more interesting if one of them kept being bad and still loved it all the same, why not inventing some handicaps so that they'd still find a way to compete on equal footing or something ! All but doing stupid boring ass Olympics with everything >_<)

       @sand I'm iffy on that one. Elites tend to engage in niche nerd talk, I suppose.It would likely make more sense after watching the first episode.She's more interested in a dynamic where both girls are invested in the game but only one of them is actually good at it.
