       I've spent years playing it without ever knowing what they promised because it was $10 at walmart when i was a young zoomer.i hear every other project that tries to improve on it or make it their own just cant capture the charm

       The pre-release gameplay footage was basically a completely different game. At some point in the development pipeline Maxis seemingly rebuilt the game entirely before release.
