       so, a friend DMed me and told me about this new AI-powered service called 'deepwiki'.  it is apparently trained on the most popular github repositories.so of course, i go and look at the wiki it built for pkgconf, because i am curious about it.unfortunately, the wiki is filled with hallucinations.  a user of the libpkgconf API would be led quite astray by the guidance it provides.for example, this block diagram is just total nonsense if you look at the labels.and no, i can't opt out of this.SIGH.

       like it hallucinated pkgconf_solution_t out of thin air, that's not a type in libpkgconf.  the solution is provided in the form of a flattened pkgconf_pkg_t &world.

       @ariadne deepwiki is annoyingly well-referenced, I ran into it multiple times looking for info about this or that library before realizing it wasn't just some documentation platform the devs were using.

       @ariadne yeah i had to block deepwiki because I was being accidentally "lead there" so much by ddg when trying to figure out how some other open source thing worked..(i think it was a ... keyboard overlay plugin for OBS, but that's irrelevant, and also i figured that one out already)

       @ariadneYES! Every time I search for some u-boot related documentation there is ALWAYS this deepwiki and always with hallucinated information. And there is a page for every specific thing you would search that pollutes the search results when I'm just looking where to find the small paragraph in the real documentation!!

       @ariadne @Zwifi I find it extremely annoying that “looking great” and “being useful” went from being somewhat well correlated to, arguably, inversely correlated (at least for new projects)

       @ariadne we kept running into this when researching wasm/wasi stuff and at least there it felt annoyingly surface level didn't run into any inaccuracies in what we encountered, but that's largely because we kept opening a thing, realizing it was just a rehash of guides we'd already read, and closing it immediately
