You shouldn't have to wait. That's the problem. The fact doctors control the pharmacy is legally bizarre and didn't exist until the 20th century. State licensing didn't exist either. Stark law didn't exist. HMOs and medical groups didn't exist. Again, as far as I'm concerned, every doctor and nurse is complicit in violating personal autonomy by restricting the patients ability to care for themselves out of some God complex. I've seen some shit. Burn it down.

How many months / years did it take?I actually knew a guy who was on a board of a major hospital. I used to argue with him quite often about problems in the profession, and he would defend doctors to the teeth. Then he got sick and needed care. Now he's on my team. Most people don't know until the know.

I actually have a personal dislike for the profession.In my profession, you have to know every single facts about a case. You can't leave stones unturned. You spend hours, days, and weeks researching and investigating a matter. And you look for any legal means to get your client to the goal. Fuck the law if it can be fucked. Autonomy is always the goal. Further, I can't schedule a client out 90 or 120 days. My license would get yanked. Doctors don't know shit about you. They look at the chart when they walk in the room. They treat every patient the same, like a union joe working the assembly line at GM, because again, they don't know shit about you. Finally, they don't trust the patient and the goal is to control what is most intimate, the patients body. Autonomy isn't even in the cards. Lawyers in California don't have to report their client to authorities in ANY situation. Doctors are mandatory reporters, they will snitch. There is no doctor-patient privilege. To put it another way, you rights at Law are greater than your rights to your body, and the people who the state permits to exercise what amounts to judicial discretion, doctors, don't know enough or give enough fucks to truly exercise the duties of care, loyalty, and candor.Fuck Doctors. They're not what they purport to be, and they don't own you any confidences, despite what they say. You can't trust them, and they will kill you if it saves their ass. This is a hill I will die on. That profession is fucked from top to bottom.

That may not be the case though. That's the type of one size fits all advice I hate. A real doctor would have you try various solutions, maintain a chart, and check your blood pressure at each alteration of the regimine. High blood pressure, cholesterol, triglycerides can be caused by a myriad of things and it differs person to person. See.... if you're the outlier, the genetic minority, you get fucked.

I like the idea of a forced license. You can create, but you just get royalties set by statute. We already have this in a way.... statutory damages. We just make a tier that's less penal and have a process for application / payment. Producing without paying would be compensable by damages though.

That's why I can be a political pragmatist at times. It's not always what's ideal, it's what's possible given circumstance. I think the medical industry has lined up some significant changes if the public was aware, e.g. modifications to patent law, prescription gatekeeping, lab access (see AZ law on this one in particular). The industry wants people to focus on "who pays" though and the media is their shill.
