       @hazlin single cylinder so relatively sparse ignition events, they tend to be significantly oversquare so the stroke is short, and yes small flywheelsthe reason I care about this is I'm only going to load the engine about 50% of the time at most, so it'd be nice if it would idle at very low RPMs so it's very quiet when unloadedhowever since I'll have electricity on the assembly anyway I'll probably just add an electric starter and shut the engine off during the unloaded period. maybe use a capacitor bank to start the motor

I want to build a V8 air compressor. Shouldn't be hard to stop feeding four cylinders. And 500 rpm is certainly doable, most of the idle rpm is done out of consideration for the charging system.

       If that motor is anything like this Chinese transmission, it's not good. TLDR: guy who builds Muncie transmissions, regrets the purchase.        @TeaTootler @eee must have quite a flywheel for the displacement. I think those things are like 80ccI wonder if anyone has ever done a second flywheel that's not connected to the crank. like suppose I ran a chain drive to a bigass "remote" flywheel, then put a centrifugal clutch on that flywheel to drive the loadobviously there are extra transmission losses involved but if you can't fit a better flywheel in the motor packaging, and the packaging otherwise doesn't matter... :02_shrug:
