       current status: days of endless firmware+kernel hacking crunch. usb-c dp alt-mode is exactly the kind of technical nightmare that was to be expected. the PD and actual picture things are mostly under control now, but the silly AUX channel (1mbit, manchester) gives endless troubles

       i wonder if rockchip's analogix dp ip integration is the strangely behaving part or not. i realize i probably have an nda datasheet of the analogix stuff from when it was sold as a standalone chip. also, scope+logic analyzer time i guess. the main issue is that EDID readout often doesn't work, or works only once, or half-works (and the rest is zeros) for example with apple usb-c hdmi adapter

       note: i should replace the antique 640x480 etc fallback defaults with vesa hd 1920x1080 50+60Hz, and 1280x720, because that's much more useful in 99% of scenarios probably

       @mntmn Good luck! Though, wasn't it a DesignWare IP block that's normally used for USB-C DP alt mode through the USB3/DP combo PHY, and the Analogix IP block is normally used for eDP through the HDMI/DP combo PHY?
